Free computer access for families

Free computer access offer from the government.

Early this year the Government will be launching its Home Access project.

This scheme is to provide selected families a free computer and free one year Internet connectivity as part of the government’s drive to reduce the digital divide. The national marketing campaign run by Capita will start on January 7th and use local papers, local radio, poster sites and local events. The package will be one computer together with connectivity for one year, for families who meet certain eligibility criterion. Included in these criterion are such things as receipt of ‘Free School Meals’.  The package is provided directly to families through a credit card that can be exchanged for a choice of equipment at a number of retail outlets. Eligible families will be able to start applying in January 2010. You can find more information at the following website;
