Mental Wellbeing Award
The Mental Wellbeing of all children, staff and parents is at the heart of Old Sodbury Primary school. As a school we are working together to gain our Mental Wellbeing Award to help cement good practice around the school. If you have any concerns regarding your own or child's mental wellbeing, please contact the school for help, support and guidance.
At Old Sodbury Primary School, we understand that the emotional and social wellbeing is important for children to learn and flourish. As a school we always hold the emotional needs of children at the heart of everything we do. To support our children even further our school has started work to gain the Health in Schools Mental Wellbeing Award. The Mental Wellbeing award is a new part of the Health in Schools programme in South Gloucestershire , run by the Public Health and Well being team at South Gloucestershire Council.
The Scheme aims to further support and encourage our whole school approach to improving the mental health and wellbeing of children, staff and parents/carers. By working through the award, we will look at the various ways we support the mental health of children, and the teaching and learning around wellbeing, staff development plus supporting and working with parents.
We all have mental health. Mental health is about our feelings, our emotions and our moods. This is why looking after our mental health is so important. We all have small feelings every day, these sometimes feel strong and overwhelming, whether happy or sad, but they go away before too long. Although, we sometimes experience big feelings, these feel strong and overwhelming for a long time. They stop us doing what we want in our lives. This is when we may require help, support and guidance.
