The Iron Man
After reading Chapter One of The Iron Man, by Ted Hughes, we took part in a draw-along with the very talented illustrator Chris Mould. Inspired by his unique style, the author's vivid description and our own imaginations, we created thirty wonderfully unique versions of this mysterious, metal being.
Dreamcatchers
In the forest, we finished our dreamcatchers. We used palm drills to make the holes, decorated them with ribbons and our own designs.
Geography
As part of our mission, we have been looking at Brazil. We used atlases to find the 10 countries surrounding Brazil, the River Amazon and some cities in Brazil.

Year 4 cycle training
Some of Year 4 completed their Level 1 cycle training, learning how to ensure their bike is kept in good condition and how to keep safe on the roads.

OS maps
As part of our mission, we looked at different types of maps. We also looked at OS maps, the symbols and grid references.
Forest school
We enjoyed our morning in the forest. First, we learnt about hedgerows and their importance. We did a winter hunt and created our own hedgerow museum. For our second session, we used palm drills to create our own dreamcatchers! We will finish making them after half term.
Mission splashdown: Would you rather live in a village, town or city?
For their mission splashdown, Sycamore used everything they had learnt throughout their mission to decide whether they would prefer to live in a village, town or city. They created a map of their own ideal settlement and included a key.
Hubble, bubble...
We invented our own magic potions and used expanded noun phrases to describe their unusual ingredients. Now, we’re preparing to write instructions for our mysterious mixtures.

Spells
In our writing today, the children were using commas in lists. The children were very excited to create their own spells!
Anti-Bullying Week
We had a great week off timetable for Anti-Bullying Week with this year's theme, 'Power for Good'. We started the week wearing odd socks to celebrate our individuality. We made odd sock puppets and created a puppet show with them. We also used stop motion to create animations about using our 'power for good'.
Road safety
Thank you to Debbie and Carla for delivering a fun and informative road safety workshop!
Super sewing!
For this term's design and technology project, we'll be designing and making money holders. Time to brush up on our sewing skills! First, we practised threading a needle and tying a knot to secure the thread - not easy! Next, after watching some demonstrations, we practised running stitch and backstitch on Binca. Miss Garroch was very proud of how well we persevered and supported each other.
Maths
We had fun playing 'Four in a row' to practise multiplying by 100.
Purses to be proud of!

Art and design
We've been learning about the life and work of the inspirational artist Stephen Wiltshire, who draws incredibly detailed cityscapes from memory. We experimented with fineliners, applying some previously learnt drawing techniques and exploring Stephen’s drawing style too.
RE
We've been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali and we had lots of fun working together to create some beautiful rangoli patterns.
Year 3 scooter training
Year 3 took part in scooter training where they learnt to check their scooters are in good working order, use their brakes and be considerate of others around them.
Slimbridge trip
We had a great time on our class trip to Slimbridge. We really enjoyed our workshop about the water cycle, wetlands and me. At the top of the observatory, we had an amazing view of the River Severn. We also enjoyed feeding the ducks, geese and swans. We finished our trip with a visit to welly boot land!
Life education
We had a visit from life education and Harold the giraffe. We were taught about keeping our brain healthy.
Mission splashdown
For our mission splashdown, we created a comic strip about Drop's journey through the water cycle.
