Reception class 2026
Applications for Reception class 2026 are now closed. The deadline for applications in the first round was January 15th 2026. Families will be notified of their place on the national offer day 16th April 2026.
Late applications can still be submitted through South Gloucestershire Council in a second round on their applications page although you may be at a disadvantage if your first choice of school is full on the first round.
We do not have a catchment area as we also welcome familes from Chipping Sodbury, Yate and beyond. 15 places are allocated according to the following criteria:
1) Children in public care and previously in public care, including internationally adopted previously looked after children.
2) Local Siblings (Under 3 miles in a straight line)
3) Geographical considerations (in a straight line)

We will be inviting families applying for Reception Class September 2027 to visit our school from mid September 2026 once our 2026 cohort are settled. We believe it is important for families to see the school during the school day in either individual or very small group tours to get a really good feel and see what we have to offer and to see our school in action.
South Gloucestershire Council only begin to look at the applications after the closing date in January 2027 has passed at which point all applications are treated equally based on their admissions policy.
We look forward to welcoming you to our friendly and nurturing school.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school at office@oldsodbury.org.uk
As well as providing education to children who live in the village, we also welcome many children and families from further afield such as Chipping Sodbury and Yate to our school family.
We are able to provide a outstanding small village school and community to families that live in the village and also larger urban areas.
If you would like to come and look around the school at any time, please give us a ring and we would be happy to show you around.
As with all other schools in South Gloucestershire, our admissions are handled by the Local Authority. Full details on the application process and their online form can be found on their website on the following link:
