Lych Gate Memorial

The Old Sodbury memorial is there to help us to remember everything that the soldiers have done for us. After world war one, Britain had its biggest wave of commemoration ever. Tens and thousands of memorials spread across England. The Old Sodbury memorial was built in 1920. The memorial is Grade 2 listed. It was listed March 4th, 2015.

The First World War is also known as the Great War or it’s known as world war one. The First World War started in 28th of July 1914 until 11th of November 1918 and resulted in over seventeen million casualties.

The inscription on the memorial says “LEST WE FORGET/THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVER MORE ‘.

There are 16 names from World War One. 5 more names were added to remember the soldiers who died in WW2.
